SLBA Talk, Saturday, September 21, 10am SLT (PST) Tim Faith (SL: Yoss Kamachi): "HIPAA Final Security Regulation Update" Join the SL Bar Association on Saturday, September 21 at 10am SLT for a presentation by Tim Faith, a Maryland Technology Attorney, about the final HIPAA security regulation update. This regulation has a number of important impacts for covered entities and business associates, including: (a) changes in the definition and scope of the term "business associate," (b) changes in compliance obligations for business associates, (c) changes in the standard for breach notification, (d) changes in business associate agreement requirements, (e) changes in other compliance issues such as privacy notification to patients, definition of PHI, patient requests for privacy when self-pay, and patient requests for electronic data from covered entities.
