1. Audience Feedback
Using kwicksurveys.com I was able to publish an online survey, creating this online made it
easier for me to publish and receive feedback. The survey that I created was based around the
final edit of The Institute. Within this survey I created 6 questions that enabled me to collect
quantative and qualitative data based around our film.
I asked both genders to fill in this survey and gathered 6 results. Below show the results that
I collected.
The first question I asked showed me what gender the participants were. The results show
that more females completed the survey than males. Although this doesn’t make much
difference to the outcome of the other answers, it shows that females are the higher
percentage of the audience to the film.
Question 2 shows that the genre, psychological horror appeals to 83% of the target audience.
This results is very good for the film as it appeals to over half of the target audience. This
would increase the distribution of the film and also promote it further therefore meaning it
would make more of a profit.
Question 3 is linked to question 2. After watching the film the audience was able to make
their own opinion upon it. Our film was intended to be in the psychological horror genre, the
feedback shown in question 3 shows that after careful planning 83% of the target audience
that that our film follows the same genre. In light of the result, our detailed planning and
research benefited our final film.
2. After planning and creating our film, the groups view upon the film was biased. Asking this
question shows me the positive and negative parts of the film. The feedback that I received
shows that people didn’t understand the relevance of the couple’s scene and the nurse’s scene
wasn’t very convincing. Although there was some negative feedback, there was also positive
feedback. Many people liked the news report at the start also the ending with the flashback
and the swing scene. Although it was meant to be a psychological horror people didn’t find it
very scary. This feedback can be used to improve the film and also taken into consideration if
we were to create another product.
Like question 4, question 5 presents feedback from the target audience. These improvements
helped me and the group to improve the final edit of the film. Although we couldn’t change
the film to incorporate all of the improvements suggested we improved as much as we could.
This question would be very important if we were to create the rest of the film. This feedback
would affect the distribution and promotion of full film if there was one because if people
didn’t want to view the completed film there would be no point in distributing and promoting
it because the institution would lose large amounts of money.
