The girl within my music video is a cheerleader and the
boy is a geek.
Women engaged in passive behavior
The girl is portrayed to my audience as passive in
terms of being admired by the boy and the boy chasing
the girl.
Women more likely to be presented in provocative or
revealing clothing.
The girl in my video will be wearing a provocative dress
in reality as she is teasing the geek.
3. General Stereotypes of Music
Videos
Not Include:
Men engaged in significantly more aggressive
and dominant behavior.
Despite the fact the boy is chasing the girl in my
music video its actually the girl who is dominant as
she is in control of the situation; the dream world is
actually hers not his (Barthes's Enigma)
Men represented as independent, adventurous
and unemotional.
The boy in my music video is seen as desperate
(emotional) by chasing the girl and dependent on
her love.
4. General Stereotypes of Music
Videos
Not Include:
Presence of women solely for the purpose of
display (rather than a narrative function).
In my music video the girl plays the role of the
protagonist within my narrative (even though
the audience are led t believe it is the boy
instead ((Barthes's Enigma)).
5. Stereotypes of Dance Music
Videos
Include:
Messages about dancing, love etc.
Within my video there is a message about love
being restricted by social conventions. As well
as the message of love being hidden such as
the girl and boy are both actually trying to be
together.
Modern Teenage Stereotypes
In my video I will include modern teenage
stereotypes such as the geek and the popular
girl.
6. Stereotypes of Dance Music
Videos
Not Include:
Themed around partying and clubbing
scenes
My narrative will not reference either themes as
I have chosen to take on a more narrative style
to this dance track. Similar to other anti
stereotypical music videos such as; David
Guetta – Titanium

Behavior of people –
Jumping, dancing, drinking
As the locations of my music video are not
clubs or parties this stereotype will not be
relevant/ included.
Basic structure of the storyline at the
beginning creating a link to the characters
going to a club/party which is where the
dancing happens.
I will use a narrative throughout, no location will
be a club. Also the dancing I will include at the
Editor's Notes
