History Professor To live our future we need to learn about our past.
History professor job descrpition: Provides history instruction at either college or university level courses  Provide overbroad speeches/lectures on international or national history.  Evaluate students assignments such as essays, exams, all written assignments. Must be able to communicate answers  with students, if students have specific questions on history lessons Reading and researching history material to write scholarly papers, books, and articles. Plan courses
Working conditions: Works more hours than an average employee (40 hours) usually 50-60 hours per week. 9-12 hours are involved in teaching per day. Professors must spend another 9-12 hours per day marking students work. Most of the time it is a lot of seat work or standing. Not a lot of personal interaction with students. Often an average class size in a university is 200 students. May strain eye sight, because being a professor involves continiuous critical detailed reading skills.   You must be personally involved with your school. Serving on committees that do: curriculum revision, academic planning, and falculty matters.
Potential employers Professors work at either universities or colleges. In Canada here are many universities and colleges that offer history programs, such as: -Mcgill University University of British Columbia Ryerson Univeristy York University  Univeristy of Toronto
Potential for growth Being a history professor you’re already at a high position in the university. Although you can become the dean or be in the head board for the university.
Earnings AND CAREER PATH: As a history professor you start off making $40,000 to $140,000 or more. For college professors they make $30,000-$95,000 Similar to a regular teacher, professors start off being substitute professors. Although this is after eight years of school, because you must receive a Ph.D in an era of history.

Education and high school requirements A bachelor of arts degree, a masters degree and then a Ph.D is required. This takes eight years of school. You can major in all sorts of history studies from Medieval history to Renaissance history. In high school for your senior years you need U level history and a higher average of %70 to get into a university.  You have to take three courses AT LEAST per grade in social sciences. As well as classes that you can practice writing skills.
Professional Knowledge/ technical skills - You must be able to use smart boards You must know how o use a variety of computer soft wares that help you to teach lessons and evaluate assignments and record marks . You must know how to research history information on a variety of educational researching engines.
Personal and transferable skills that you should possess to make you successful in this career: You must be able to: - Be comfortable with speking in front of large crowds - You have to have good communication/social skills. Working in university means you attend many conferences interacting with fellow professors. You interact with many students and be able to discuss different perspectives and make them understand certain points they may not fluently understand.  -Have a passion for learning -Enjoy helping others - Be able to assess certain situation in a clear confident manner -Have confidence
