1. Weekly Update
Week Thirteen 5th September 2014

2. This Week…
 We confirmed our decision to change the focus of the documentary to how
students with autism are treated by the education system
 The screen tests were edited and uploaded to the 5AM Productions YouTube
channel
 We reviewed all the footage filmed so far and concluded that the lighting in
Mr. Foster’s interview was too bright and that they framing with Aaron’s
interview was poor. We also felt that while we had captured a breadth of
cutaways in Hastings, very few suited the new theme. Thus we now plan to
film the majority of our cutaways in school in order to reflect the new focus
on education

3. New Focus
 The decision to change the focus from misconceptions to education was
influenced by out interview with Maggie Sullivan. After she spoke about
Aaron’s difficulties and successes in school, we thought it would be
interesting to explore whether autistic pupils are supported sufficiently in
schools
 Specifically we want to see if they are being pushed out of a mainstream
school environment
 We can access the viewpoints of educational professionals and footage of
school environment very easily
 Also this new idea provides the basis for an argument to potentially be
constructed: students are being supported/are not being supported

4. Next Week…
 Amend the script to suit the new idea
 Contact Aaron to see if he would be open to filming another interview
 Contact other potential interviewees with a specific interest/connection to
education
 Begin editing
 Begin planning which areas of school cutaways will be filmed in
