The genre of my magazine is indie, I’m choosing to 
do indie because I like the genre so there for I 
know more about it, like the bands and some of the 
styles. It’s also a popular genre so there is a range 
of things to write about. I also know some of music 
magazines from this genre, so I can take inspiration 
from them and base my magazine on them.
The age for my audience is 16-21 year olds, 
because this is the age of people who 
typically like the indie genre. Indie is quite a 
modern genre because about 20 years ago 
the genre didn’t exist. The people wear skinny 
jeans and have longer hair.
The gender of my target audience is male or female, both 
like the genre like it. Girls would typically have posters of 
the bands on there wall and lads would own memorabilia 
The clothing is skinny jeans and jumpers, its normally 
darker clothing. The ethnicity is any race it just depends 
on weather you like the music or net.
Typically people who would buy these magazines 
wouldn’t be on that high and income, they would be 
working class and probably have manual labor jobs. But 
any one can really buy the magazine if they like the 
genre of the music and want to read up on the latest 
news.
They would have to be big music fans because some one 
who isn’t really that much into music wouldn’t want to 
buy a music magazine. The sort of person who buys a 
music magazine might paly an instrument or be in a 
band.
The location for my target audience would be in the 
suburbs because that’s where places what sell magazines 
are like, most newsagents and supermarkets. It’s also 
where my main target class would live. It is also quite 
fitting to the genre because most indie bands came from 
the suburbs of cities.
