• June 4th – Commencement – No Classes Scheduled
• June 5th – Last Day of Weekday Classes
• June 8th – June 14th – Final Examinations
FINANCIAL AID
1. Check your "TO DO LIST" on CUNYFirst. This tells you what you are
missing and what you have to bring in to the FA office.
2. If you are pulled for verification you must submit the IRS transcript
along with the verification form. To prevent being pulled for verification
please link your IRS transcript through your FAFSA application.
3. If you have issues with your residency you must fix it as soon as
possible. We cannot pay old semesters and if you don't update it before
the next semester starts you will be billed as a non resident tuition.
4. Make sure you have your TAP sent to LaGuardia.
5. If you have not completed your FAFSA and TAP application for 2015-
2016 please do it as soon as possible.
Job Notice: Student Success Mentor (Part-Time Positions: 12 hours/week)

Department: LaGuardia Center for Teaching and Learning
Position: Student Success Mentor
Description: Student Success Mentors are part of a dynamic team at LaGuardia Community College’s Center for Teaching and Learning,
committed to improving the first year experience of students who are new to college. They lead the studio hour attached to the First Year
Seminar (FYS), now a required course in Business and Technology, Natural Sciences, Liberal Arts and Health Sciences, CriminalJustice,
Psychology, and Computer Science & Engineering that helps incoming students transition to the College environment and accessits many
resources.
Responsibilities include:
Attending and participating in ongoing training sessions in June and July.
Facilitating the First Year Seminar Studio Hour.
Implementing ePortfolio-based assignments and utilizing advisement tech tools such as Degree Audit.
Helping students adjust to the challenges of college.
Serving as a liaison between First Year Seminar college students and a faculty member.
Administering surveys for the First Year Seminar initiative.
Providing support at First Year student events and contributing to the creation of First Year Seminar resources and participating in events
faculty professional development seminars with faculty teaching the First Year Seminar course.
Qualifications:
Candidates must be a current student at or have graduated from LaGuardia Community College and/or currently attending a senior college;
have completed a minimum of 24 credits and two semesters with a GPA of 3.0 or above; and be proficient in English. Proficiency in other
languages is a plus.
Candidates preferably will have had previous mentoring experience, and experience developing their own ePortfolio.
Candidates will be able to demonstrate excellent people-skills (especially listening skills, open-mindedness, empathy, courteousness, and
patience), have strong leadership skills as well as the ability to collaborate and work as part of a team.
Candidates will ideally possess knowledge and skills of the following software: Digication, MS Office, and Windows 7 and be experienced with
ePortfolio.
Preference will be given to candidates who are able to work for two semesters.
Compensation: A competitive salary: $12.50/hour PLUS the opportunity to further develop your academic skills while gaining valuable
professional experience.
