2. The hailstorm that struck Lahore on February 26, 2011 was
considered to be the heaviest in the recent times . People
called this a change in climate. It was a pleasant change to
some other. The city was giving the scene of snowfall that
evening. The hailstorm struck the city around 4.45 pm and
continued for half an hour.
“The plains of Punjab do receive hailstones in this part of
winter because of differences in ground and air
temperature. But this one was rare,” a meteorologist gave
his description on that evening.
The warning for hail-producing thunderstorms can be
created by using weather satellites and weather
radar imagery. Hail stones generally fall at higher speeds as
they grow in size.
