Switzerland, and then in France in 1920, and
in the United States in 1939.
Become
a French citizen in 1934 and a US
citizen in 1945.

chords and tone color in a generally clear and
traditional way.
Though
long opposed to Schoenberg’s 12tone system. He eventually came to adopt it
in his own way using rows of fewer than 12
notes in his compositions.
