WELCOME
HI THERE, MY NAME IS AARON
David had idea First meeting Initial scope Second Meeting 1 st event Scope of org Festival Money raised Brand results Continued results
In this beginning, collect your thoughts
Have a concrete idea before inviting people to join LCH's was non-profit film festival only As wee added people, the cope has gotten bigger Not b/c of one person but all of us.
You have to be willing to accept that the way your organizations achieves its goals will change.
As a founder, it's your responsibility to make sure that you are staying on track to fulfill your cause. LCH example: Mission statement changed, goal is the same Festival to screenings to volunteer match to education to ???
Ask the audience what they think the trait is.
From LCH, we have three people with autonomy to make decisions. The goal is concrete but the way we accomplish it is very flexible. Help npo's communicate. Many ways to do that.
Intuition is your most valuable tool. You should know when your idea is right
If you don't know, it's okay, just bring in a few more people until you know for sure.
It's all potential in the muck. Lots of good work get's done when you have nothing to loose. We are going to talk about a few tools you can use to make sure you successfully get
Rhino uses it to keep away flies and diseases LCH's most effective tool = social media 140 submissions from all over the world Many many blog posts Over 500 facebook fans 200 mailing list subscribers 5,000 twitter followers 100 people linked in group Overage of 30 hits/day.
Analogy about tires LCH Sold out but people didn't show Need to watch films as they come in Interns to research and book venues a head of time UT isa great resource.
We used what ever was free SWKEY UT New movement $500 donations for sponsorships Borrow, beg and steal.
Now we're using what we learned about our idea and our audience to creat something that people really want. Collaboration is a great skill.
Very functional but you still need additional tools and a bit of new skills you will great something awesome. LCH example. This is where we are. Constructing this. Texas C Bar Whole UT Class More social media Some press coverage Developing programs Bringing on longer relationship interns Collaborating with other orgs
Talk about your blog entry. How has LCH done that Developing nonprofits Introduce people Excellence This is where we are headed. Requires expertise, time and vision.
We all came from the same place. Help lift someone out and it will only help you cause it's helping you cause.
