1. What is the role of a sound designer?
A sound designer is very important when working
on films and plays. Without sound, a film or play
would not be completed as the audience would
not be able to feel any emotion. Music in
production is the reason why we feel the way we
do whilst watching something, whether that be a
happy feeling or sad feeling. Sound evokes
emotion, reflects mood and underscores actions.
2. Being a sound designer takes a lot of
research on what music society reacts to,
so many sound designers aim to reach a
broad cinematic approach. They use music
or create music that best suits the time
that a play was set.
Not only do they create the music, they do
the likes of special effects.
3. For example in the production ‘War Horse’
noises of gun shots and horses being hurt
were used. We would not know what was
happening or the audience would not have
an idea of the surroundings.
