In June 2010, the Australian Government Information Management Office (AGIMO) release the Web Accessibility National Transition Strategy or the NTS.The NTS outlines that all State, Territory and Federal Government websites must be WCAG 2.0 A compliant by the end of 2012 and WCAG 2.0 AA compliant by the end of 2014.
It is what one of my colleagues described as government playing the game. However, it is the Australian Human Rights’s Commission who sets the rules.
…it is vital that consumers with disabilities are able to participate in the benefits that social media can provide.
