Blood alcohol limits
NSW has three blood alcohol limits for drivers: zero, under 0.02 and under 0.05. The limit that applies to you depends on your licence and the type of vehicle you are driving.

2. Rule of Thumb
For men:
No more than two standard drinks in the
first hour and one standard drink each
hour after that.
For women:
No more than one standard drink each
hour

3. If you are over the limit you will be
• Charged
• Photographed
• Required to appear in court
If your BAC is on or over the legal limit you
will be arrested and taken to a police station
where you will be required to take further
tests.
