Next week we will move to discussing color. Last year, to display how some color palettes are chosen, I sampled a number of my PPT color schemes from nature. I will show you how this works next week. But for fun, today, I chose to use one of my favorite comic book images. I sampled from the image on the title slide. Hulk’s face and Wolverine’s tongue. Ironically, the colors are very 90s and just a touch hideous.
TODAY Discussion of the readings from the Snow Day The FINAL project (drum roll, plzto have) DWS Chapters 3 & 4 What comes next Homework
Next week On Tuesday we will go over the results of all your module 1 work and have a discussion. We will devote the whole class to asking questions and giving answers. On Thursday, we will be discussing color and doing a color activity. I will give you some prompts on Tuesday to prep you for that activity. On Thursday we will also have a guest observer, Dr. Danielle Devoss. She’s coming to observe my teaching and offer feedback.
Things from the 90s that are like this color scheme:
I CAN’T DO IT!
Let’s sample this image
THAT’S BETTER It won’t win me any awards, but now there’s at least something a little easier on the eye happening. Now, then, back to class.
SNOW READINGS You all did a fantastic job with the snow day questions. I’d like to take some time to go over each of them, so I’m going to pop over to my Tumblr and use it to guide us for a bit.If you’re reading along, you’ll want to pop over to phill210.tumblr.com.
FINAL PROJECT I don’t want to stress any of you out (like I could—you’re an easy going group), but I want you to start thinking about your final project. The logic for this is that we’re about to start looking at color, and this is a good time to start thinking about the site you want to make at the end of the semester.
FINAL PROJECT To the website! It’s on the Modules tab.

DWS CH 3 & 4 Let’s talk about the objections and persuasion from Chapter 3. What thoughts do you have? What might we add to the list? How is this information valuable?
DWS CH 4 I’d like you to work with your partners again, in groups of two. In your groups, I want you to pull out the one quote/piece of information you feel is most important in chapter 4 and explain why. I also want each group to write a question for the rest of the class.
HOMEWORK Remember that Module 1 is due on Sunday at 1 pm. For Tuesday, Read for class: Chapter 5 and 6 of DWS (p. 95-133) Your twitter question is this: how are you feeling about the final project?
