Mise-en-Scene

Props, Costume & Mise-En-Scene: ThreeSeven
In ThreeSevenourmajorpropsbeingusedare the pistol gun(fake) inblack, soitlooksnatural. This
gun isto be usedto create tensioninourtwo minutesandaddthe aspect of actiongenre of creating
an aggressive atmosphere;asitdoesinpreviouscrime filmsseensuchasLegend. The factthat the
audience maysee teenagerswithgunsaycome to some sort of shock andmay helpcreate
awarenessof teenagervulnerabilityinsimilarareas,alongside sheerentertainment.
Both our charactersare wearingsimilarchosenoutfitpalettes.Darkcoloursare beingworntoseta
dark theme of mysteriousnessandmischievousnesswithineachcharacternomatter whoisthe
victimor not.Whichalso addsto the storyline thatwe have followedthe stereotypethatall
teenagersare the same (foundoutinquestionnairesasked). We chose tofollow the stereotype in
bothcharacters because we have otherwisecreatedsuspense innotshowingHUGZ’face straight
away.We wantedtofocus more onexpressionandhow apersoncan be perceivedbytheiremotion
to such brutalityinthe streets(guncrime).Thiscontrastsfollowingthe ‘all teenagersare the same’
stereotype andallowsthe audience tobuildasmall relationshipof maybe sympathyforPatrick
Cleary(HUGZ).Linkingbackto the descriptionof outfits,itmainlyconsistsof tracksuitbottoms,
namedclothingtocreate a chavlook;whichisa wordusedto describe ayoungpersonwhofollows
a crowd by wearingtoomuchbrandedclothing.Hoodiesare aprime costume aspect.Hoodieshelp
hide the charactersfacesto create suspense andhelpsthe audience create theirowncharacterin
theirheadfirst.Thisthenallowsthe elementof surprise tobe usedwhenourcharacterisrevealed.
Anotherpropthat couldbe consideredisthe energydrinkHUGZbuysin the local shopof Tandas. He
buysthe specificenergydrinkbecause it’s,fromfamiliarity,whatwe know thatteenagersdrinkona

area.
Mise-En-Scene
The settingof ThreeSevenisinanurbanbut grunge lookingareathatis relativelyrundown(adding
a run-downfeelingof carelessnessinlife:likeourcharacters). Firstof all we shoot inand around
B37 as an area withinourestablishingshots, tofamiliarise our
audience withthe scene andwhattheyshouldexpect.We have
the typical Britishweatherandthe typical Britishtraditionalism
of living,includingthe housing,parks,fieldsetc. Itdomesticates
the filmtoour area and howpersonal ourfilmis. We have
chosento putall of our filmina Hard Light filterthatbrings
vibrancyto our twominutestokeepattractiononthe filmand
settingandaddssharpnessonthe shots.We’ve alsospedup
some of the shotsto adda snappyandquickaction film;tokeep
up withthe audioof upbeatmusic.The music,also,ingrime
basicinstrumental grime musicthatsetsthe stereotypical sceneandisupbeat We needthe upbeat
heavybassgrime to create tension, action, andsuspensefeelingof ourfilmThreeSeven.Andall of
thisMise-En-Scene,collectively,doesthisaswell.
