The document describes the design process for several projects including a tractor, chess set, holster, mask, chaise lounge, steering wheel, and dairy scale model. Key details include:
- The tractor design included a retro interior and earth tone colors with modern equipment like a bottom-mounted steering wheel.
- The chess set used a curvilinear design with conical bottoms to hold the pieces in place and maintain individual identity.
- Testing showed the quick release holster allowed faster drawing of a weapon than a traditional holster.
- The mask incorporated a real bull skull and horns into a final painted and tooled leather head dress.
- User testing informed ergonomic adjustments to
4. RENDERING
Interior concept was based on a
retro throw back style, taking cues
from old metal tractor seat pans.
The colors would be earth tones to
help with the cleanliness and wear
and tear. All modern equipment would be
used with a bottom rotational steering
wheel for optimum driver visibility.
6. HOW IT WORKS
The front piece and the rear
of the tractor rotate separatley
than the cab.
This allows the cab to stay level
when needed.
The hubless wheels
allow the tractor to
adjust its ride height.
This is beneficial
for spraying and
cultivating corn.

THOUGHTS:
IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN INDIVIDUAL IDENTITY
I CHOSE TO USE A CURVILINEAR DESIGN. THE CONICAL
BOTTOM ADDED AN EXTRA ELEMENT TO THE FAMILY
OF PIECES ALONG WITH HOLDING THE PIECES IN PLACE.

22. HOW IT WORKS
Testing was done with different
types of people both male and
female. They were asked to pull
from a regular gun holster and then
used the works like model to test
the quick release action of the
design. The motion as well as the
speed proved to be superior to
typical holsters.
By instantly locking your arm, you are at
your most stable position immediately after
drawing your weapon.

24. RENDERINGS
The holster is a similiar size
to most competitor’s.
Although some hand guns
may need specific alterations
to fit into a holster almost
any firearm would fit into this
design. The sleeve squeezes
the gun to maintain a firm
grip on the weapon and al-
lows room for various sizes
and models.

33. CHAISE LOUNGE DESIGN
THOUGHTS:
WHEN SKETCHING I EXPLORED ARM CHAIRS,
CHAISE LOUNGES, LOVE SEATS, AND COUCHES.
I CHOSE TO EXPLORE THE CHAISE LOUNGE FURTHER
BECAUSE OF ITS VERSATILITY.

34. COMPUTER MODELS
The intension of the design was to
have two mirrored chairs in the living
space as a set. They could be used
individually or they can be pushed
together to create a love seat.

THOUGHTS:
I USED 1250 FT. OF 1/2” COTTON ROPE TO
UPHOLSTER THE FINAL MODEL.
THE CHAIR WAS FEATURED IN THE DESIGN WITHIN REACH STUDENT SHOWCASE IN FALL OF 2008,
AS WELL AS THE JOHN JELLICO PUBLIC GALLERY.
