2. What are the different types of twins?
• Identical twins: Babies that come from the
same egg once fertilized by one sperm. The
fertilized egg then splits into to embryos.
Once born the embryos will be the same sex
and look the same. Identical twins are natures
own clones.
3. • Siamese twins: Twins born joined together
somewhere on their body. This is the result of
an incomplete division of then ovum where
the twins developed.
4. • Fraternal twins: Babies that come from two
different eggs that has been fertilized by two
sperm. Fraternal twins can be the same sex or
a boy and a girl, and they don’t look the same.
5. Statistics
• The risks during pregnancy and delivery are
set high for women caring twins and
multiples.
• In majority of pregnancies there are greatly
increased risks of fetal abnormality and
therefore abortion.
• Any pregnancy with multiples is considered
high risk.
6. • Close to 60 percent of all twins are born
prematurely (before 36 weeks).
• Twins can be delivered vaginally if the first
twin is breached if not c- sections are
scheduled to occur.
• Three in every 100 pregnant women in the

7. The bond between twins:
• Identical twins have a stronger bond with each
other than fraternal twins do. Fraternal twins
have no more of a stronger connection with
each other than normal brothers and sisters.
They only significant difference is that they
share a fetal environment.
8. Pseudoscience:
• any of various methods, theories, or systems,
as astrology, psychokinesis, or clairvoyance,
considered as having no scientific basis.
10. • In 2009, 15 year old Gemma Houghton saved her
twin sister Leanne’s life. Gemma was struck by
the sudden feeling that her sister was in trouble.
She went to the bathroom where Leanne had
been taking a shower and found her under the
water, blue and unconscious. Leanne is an
epileptic and had suffered a stroke while taking a
bath. Gemma pulled Leanne out of the tub and
started administering CPR, saving her life.
• The Houghton twins are very close and are
together all the time, but they happen to be
fraternal twins.
• This story made headlines and captured many
people’s attention.
11. Fact or Fiction?
• There have been extensive research on the
field of telepathy at which many researchers
have looked into.
• Although there is no scientific evidence
proving the sixth sense, many twins (more
identical than fraternal) have experienced the
phenomenon.
