This document summarizes the work experience of Foster Lomas, including drawing plans for a house to the clients' specifications. 7. LEARNING TO WORK TO SCALE
IN THE PRECEDING PLANS, IT WAS DIFFICULT TO ESTIMATE WHAT SIZE TO MAKE EACH ROOM AS
I HAD NO PERCEPTION OF SCALE.
I WAS FIRST SHOWN DIFFERENT SCALES IN ORDER FOR ME TO COMPARE ONE WITH ANOTHER.
THEN I WAS GIVEN AN EXERCISE TO MEASURE A TABLE AND DRAW ITS PLAN AND ELEVATIONS
TO SCALE SO THAT I COULD PRACTICE WHAT I HAD LEARNED.
THIS WORKED PERFECTLY!!
8. AFTER DRAWING THE PLAN AND ELEVATIONS OF THE TABLE, I WAS
THEN TAUGHT HOW TO MAKE IT 3-DIMENSIONAL USING SKETCH-UP.
I DID THIS BY CREATING EACH COMPONENT OF
THE TABLE TO SCALE, THEN ASSEMBLING THEM.

9. I DECIDED TO HAVE ANOTHER GO AT DRAWING
THE PLAN; THIS TIME TO SCALE. I STARTED WITH A SMALL ROOM WHICH WAS THE BATHROOM, TAKING
MEASUREMENTS FROM THE ITEMS IN MY HOME, AND APPLYING THE
DIMENSIONS TO MY PLAN.
