1. Name: ___Deanna Perkins____________ Date: _____April 19th, 2012_______
Product:____Spanish Healthcare Coloring Book ________________________
Friday, 7/15/11 Activity: Create outline for Comments / Suggestions:
9:30 AM – 11:45 AM health concepts in coloring
book.
Commentary: I found it
more difficult than
expected to compose a list
of individual subjects to
use in the coloring book.
Thankfully, I had access to
the projects/ intern director
at Hands & Feet and she
suggested some helpful
components to use in the
book.
Total time: 2 hr. 15 mins.
2. Monday, 8/1/11 Activity: Ask Ben Smith if Comments / Suggestions:
10:04 AM he would like to be a
printer for the project.
Commentary: This step
was accomplished through
my parents.
Total time: 0 hrs.
3. Tuesday, 8/2/11 Activity: Discuss project Comments / Suggestions:
12:15 PM and its details with Ben
Smith.
Commentary: This step
was accomplished through
my parents.
Total time: 0 hrs.
4. Thursday, 8/4/11 Activity: Ask Ben Smith Comments / Suggestions:
2:04 PM for his final answer.
Commentary: This step
was accomplished through
my parents.
Total time: 0 hrs.
5. Saturday, 8/20/11 Activity: Finalizing the Comments / Suggestions:
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM outline for the coloring
book.
Commentary: Narrowing
down the concepts for the
book was slightly tedious. I
needed to combine some
subjects to cut down on
costs for printing the book.
The page count went down
from thirty-five to around
twenty-five.
Total time: 1 hr.
6. Saturday, 8/27/11 Activity: Drawing five Comments / Suggestions:
12:00 PM – 1: 25 PM storyboard pictures for
book.
Commentary: Actually
thinking out the concepts
and applying them to a
page is probably smarter.
This way, later when all
the planning for the
pictures’ orientation is
done, I can just directly
apply these pictures to 8
½” x 11” pages.
Total time: 1 hr. 25 mins.
7. Saturday, 9/3/11 Activity: Drawing ten Comments / Suggestions:
10:00AM – 12:00 PM storyboard pictures for
book.
Commentary:
Total time: 2 hrs.
8. Thursday, 9/8/11 Activity: Drawing five Comments / Suggestions:
7:00 PM – 8:30 PM storyboard pictures for
book
Commentary:
Total time: 1 hr. 30. mins.
9. Sunday, 9/18/11 Activity: Drawing six Comments / Suggestions:
2:00 PM – 4:00 PM storyboard pictures for
book; finishing storyboard.
Commentary: I did not
realize how long it would
take me to actually come
up with the ideas for a
storyboard! Hopefully, the
actual drawing will not
take as long.
Total time: 2 hrs.
10. Thursday, 9/22/11 Activity: Drawing page 1 Comments / Suggestions:
3:00 PM – 5:45 PM of coloring book
Commentary: The process
is turning out to be more
time consuming than I
thought! I will need to
correct some of the
storyboard effects as I
copy the basic design of
the page onto a separate
sheet of blank paper.
Total time: 1 hr. 45 mins.
11. Wednesday, 10/10/11 Activity: Draw pictures 2 Comments / Suggestions:
6:30 PM – 8:30 PM and 3 for coloring book
Commentary:
Total time: 2 hrs.
12. Saturday, 10/27/11 Activity: Comments / Suggestions:
11:30AM -- 4:45AM Drawing pictures 4-9 for
coloring book
Commentary: I am slowly
discovering how to
position the drawing on the
page…for the pages to be
ready for the printer, I need
to leave spaces in the
margins.
Total time: 5 hrs. 15 mins.
13. Saturday, 11/10/11 Activity: Drawing pages Comments / Suggestions:
12:00PM – 3:50 PM 10-13 for coloring book
Commentary:
Total time: 3 hrs. 50 mins.
14. Saturday, 11/19/11 Activity: Drawing pages Comments / Suggestions:
11:30 AM – 5:15 PM 14-20 for coloring book
Commentary: Now that
the coloring book is close
to being finished, I need to
start thinking about
transferring drawings onto
the computer and
contacting a spanish
translator…
Total time: 6 hrs. 45 mins.
15. Sunday, 11/20/11 Activity: Finishing Comments / Suggestions:
12:15 PM – 5:00 PM coloring book by drawing
pages 21-26
Commentary: Whew!
Total time: 4 hrs. 45 mins.
16. Friday, 11/25/11 Activity: Scanning all 26 Comments / Suggestions:
3:00 PM – 5:00 PM drawings in high-detail
onto computer.
Commentary: Because of
the quality and detail of the
drawings, the process of
transferring drawings was
slow. While I was at it, I
also organized the
drawings into its own
special folder and arranged
other parts of my project
around it.
Total time: 2 hrs.
17. Saturday, 12/17/11 Activity: Correcting simple Comments / Suggestions:
2:00 PM- 6:00 PM mistakes and clumsy marks
on drawings 1-4.
Commentary:
Total time: 4 hrs.
19. Tuesday, 12/ 27/11 Activity: Going through Comments / Suggestions:
4:30 PM – 10:30 PM drawing 1 and 2;
redrawing lines thicker,
establishing fluidity,
positioning and scaling on
page, and deleting
unneeded elements.
Commentary: In order for
the drawings to look
professional, a bolder line
is required for the entire
piece. I made due on
drawing one, since it is so
immense, on areas that
lacked visible lines, so the
overall picture is large
enough for kids to color.
Sadly, my computer
decided to delete all my
corrections on drawing 2,
so I had to find the original
draft on my computer and
rebuild from the bottom
up.
Total time: 6 hrs.
20. Sunday, 1/1/12 Activity: Creating coloring Comments / Suggestions:
3:15 PM – 3:30 PM book schedule for January
2012.
Commentary: I am finding
that time is slipping away
and I am quickly becoming
stressed out, so I found it
useful to make myself a
calendar and pace myself. I
am pretty sure I will even
go above and beyond and
finish way ahead of
schedule!
Total time: 15 mins.
21. Monday, 1/2/12 Activity: Retracing thick Comments / Suggestions:
4:15 PM – 9:15 PM lines over drawings 1-4.
Commentary: My latest
discovery is creating a
layer over the sketch and
tracing the sketch in thick
pen, then erasing the
original, all on my pen pad.
This method is a lot faster
than fixing small mistakes,
and fixes the problem of
the pages looking
like…well, like they don’t
belong in a coloring book!
Total time: 5 hrs.
30. Saturday, 1/14/12 Activity: Finish inking Comments / Suggestions:
10:30 AM – 11: 30 AM CBP #18, #19, #20, #21,

Commentary:
Total time: 4 hrs.

2:00 PM – 3:30 PM pages (CBP #24-26) and
6:20 PM – 7:50 PM updating flash drive,
handing over drawings to
be positioned on page by
mom.
Commentary: I’m finally
coming to the point where
my end of the project is
done. Hallelujah!
Total time: 3 hrs.
32. Sunday, 1/15/12 Activity: Appropriated list Comments / Suggestions:
8:00 PM – 9:00 PM of words for the translator,
Mrs. Macduna, to translate
and hand back to me.
Commentary: This step in
the process will be rather
quick and easy, since my
mom and I have already
worked through the list of
words.
Total time: 1hr.
33. Tuesday, 1/17/12 Activity: E-mailed Heather Comments / Suggestions:

my parents.
Total time: 5 mins.
35. Thursday, 1/19/12 Activity: Review final Comments / Suggestions:
2:45 PM – 3:00 PM drawings with Mr.
Peacock.
Commentary: I found that
I did not need Mr. Peacock
much on this project, until
I just needed to check of
the concepts made sense
for a healthcare theme in
the coloring book. I also
used him as a final
personal check to see if the
average person could
understand how the words
and the pictures connect
Total time: 15 mins.
36. Thursday, 1/19/12 Activity: Ask Miriam Mora Comments / Suggestions:
3:00 PM – 3:25 PM to translate the coloring

2:00 PM – 4:00 PM minute mistakes on the
7:30 PM – 9:00 PM actual pages of the book,
and formatting layout of
book for the printer.
Commentary: I found my
parents advice and
connections invaluable
throughout this process.
Without my dad's technical
skills and ability to work
with Adobe Framemaker
and Microsoft Powerpoint,
creating a proper layout for
the book would be
impossible.
