PROFILE
A trained Mechanical Technician having completed 23 years employment within the Mechanical
Transport section of the British Army. Technically competent with mechanical and hydraulic
systems and possesses a wealth of experience working as part of a team, often in adverse
weather conditions, hazardous and hostile environments. Very hard working and determined, over
the past year and a half I took on additional employment and volunteered for a 6 month
deployment to the Falkland Islands in order to save money so I could afford to pay to retrain in the
renewable energy industry as a technician.

EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
HM Forces: Royal Signals Dec 1992 – Present
 Responsible for equipment procurement, ensuring additional mechanical and electrical
spares were available prior to deploying on Operations. The parts would range from
something as small as a lightbulb to new engines and circuit boards for generators.
 Carried out all the PAT testing within the Offices and accommodation blocks.
 Equipment care played a large part of my day to day job, inspecting equipment ensuring it
had not been neglected and was in good working order.
2
 The Squadron’s safety representative, responsible for identifying hazards, assessing risk,
implementing control measures, monitoring and controlling safety in the workplace and
garages for over 120 personnel. Responsible for the archiving and reporting of accidents
and near misses.
 Carried out the maintenance and servicing of a large fleet of various vehicle types and
vehicle assets. Ensured schedules were adhered to ensuring maximum vehicle availability
at all times. This also entailed snap inspections of other vehicles, ensuring faults had been
fixed, checking the quality of workmanship, physically getting on and under the vehicles to
ensure the correct work had been completed to a satisfactory level.
 Worked with Petroleum Oils & Lubricants, over 100,000 ltrs of fuel on account, responsible
for the generator farm and the refueling of over 150 vehicles whilst on operations in Iraq.
This also encompassed the maintenance, repair and testing of the fuel delivery system
which in this case was engine driven.
 Used to working in enclosed environments in often hostile conditions.
 Operating, maintaining and fault finding on Heavy lifting apparatus, telescopic cranes,
enhanced palletised load system (EPLS), Drops vehicles and forklift truck. On many
occasions while on Operations we would have to fault find on the hydraulic systems on
various heavy lift equipment’s and use torque tools to keep the equipment operational and
due to the lack of spares we would often have to improvise by using parts from different
lifting platforms. Work completed would vary from renewing hydraulic oil to replacing seals,
hoses and then bleeding the hydraulic system of air & water.
 Managed the joint asset management engineering IT software.
 Teaching General Mechanical Principles and fault finding skills to various personnel within
the Armed Forces. Including the internal working parts of the engine and the correct use of
tools ensuring Health & Safety practices were adhered to at all times.
 Teaching students on the armoured ridgeback vehicles, the internal mechanical, hydraulic
and electronic systems including the methods used to fault find on the Electronic Counter
Measures (ECM) fitted to the vehicles. Faults found on the ECM would be investigated, I
would check the power supplies, ensuring synchronisation was carried out in the correct
sequence, failing that then the equipment would be moved to the workshop for a more in
depth interrogation using specialised equipment and then repaired and retested.
 Worked at height completing the Royal Signals aerial riggers course, trained in the use of
different lifting techniques for the installation of telecommunications’ equipment up to and
including heights of 110 meters. This course also included rescue at height.
EDUCATION & FURTHER TRAINING
The Underwater Centre:ROVPilot/Technician Course Jan 16 – March 16
 Experienced and trained on the Schilling T4 manipulator, carrying out routine maintenance,
stripping and reassembling the arm, fault finding, repairing and retesting.
 Flying experience with the class 3 WROVand class 2 observational type including a real
genuine successful rescue and recovery of a dead sub WROV.
3
 Experience in operating the A frame and telescopic crane launch and recovery system from
a vessel.
 Experience with Fibre Optics, integration and testing. Trained in the use of the 3M hot melt,
Fujikura splice mate & FAST crimp fittings.
 Carried out fault finding on ROV electrical and industrial electronics using test
measurement equipment.
