Foreword

How to take part in the auction:

We are delighted to launch a new fundraising initiative which will be piloted this year.
With this silent auction, we hope to raise money to enable further education students
to participate in an activity which would support their career aspirations, enhance their
employability and would provide them with an experience which would be over and
above what they might expect to receive as part of their course.
We are enormously grateful for the generosity of all the organisations and individuals
who have donated goods, services or other items to the auction. As you look through
this catalogue, you will see that we have been lucky enough to get the support
of former AoC Gold Award winners, AoC Beacon Award sponsors, Colleges and
exhibitors at the AoC Annual Conference.
Whether you are interested in bidding for a place at next year’s AoC Annual
Conference, a fan of Hannah Cockroft, think that Spencer Dale would be an inspiring
speaker for your students or fancy trying your hand at a cooking skills course, we
hope you will find some items of interest to you.
The AoC Charitable Trust hopes that this might be the first of many annual online
auctions it will hold to raise money to support your students and we hope that the
range of items on offer in this catalogue might inspire your College to offer items in
future years.

Mik Godley is a critically acclaimed painter and lectures at Chesterfield College.
Mik is interested in digital explorations from pixel to painting and back again and his
project ‘Considering Silensia’ examines issues of conflicting heritage, cultural memory,
identity, displacement and migration. These themes are observed in the context of
our evolving relationship with the internet and new media – our digital ‘way of seeing’.
The iPad portrait will be done from a photograph.

Half day social media training session from leading public sector and charity PR
agency, Claremont, which has delivered sessions for organisations including 10

in the not-for-profit sector, working towards the public good i.e. in a charity or social
enterprise. The successful bidder should be based in the UK and the course could
either be held at Claremont’s London offices or, if the venue is outside London, travel
costs would need to be covered by the bidder. The maximum number of people on the

  • 1. Silent Auction Catalogue | Foreword | How to take part in the auction | Goods for Colleges | Mentoring Opportunities for FE middle or senior managers | | Sporting merchandise/memorabilia/experiences | Guest Speakers | Dining/Cooking experiences, hotel breaks | | Hair and Beauty Therapies | Other Items |
  • 2. Foreword How to take part in the auction: We are delighted to launch a new fundraising initiative which will be piloted this year.  With this silent auction, we hope to raise money to enable further education students to participate in an activity which would support their career aspirations, enhance their employability and would provide them with an experience which would be over and above what they might expect to receive as part of their course. We are enormously grateful for the generosity of all the organisations and individuals who have donated goods, services or other items to the auction. As you look through this catalogue, you will see that we have been lucky enough to get the support of former AoC Gold Award winners, AoC Beacon Award sponsors, Colleges and exhibitors at the AoC Annual Conference. Whether you are interested in bidding for a place at next year’s AoC Annual Conference, a fan of Hannah Cockroft, think that Spencer Dale would be an inspiring speaker for your students or fancy trying your hand at a cooking skills course, we hope you will find some items of interest to you. The AoC Charitable Trust hopes that this might be the first of many annual online auctions it will hold to raise money to support your students and we hope that the range of items on offer in this catalogue might inspire your College to offer items in future years. 1. The auction will open on Thursday 14 November 2013. 2. You will need an eBay account to participate in the auction. 3. Go onto the eBay for Charities website. To find the items for sale, click on ‘advanced search’ and search by seller ‘Association of Colleges’ 4. To bid on an item, type in the amount that you would like to bid and click ‘Place Bid’. Please note that this must be higher than the previous bid. 5. At this stage you will need to sign into your eBay account, or create a new account. 6. If you have won the auction you will receive an email notification. To pay, then click ‘pay now’. Please note the auction closes at 19.00 on Sunday 24 November. 7. Following the instructions, you can then pay via PayPal or using a credit or debit card. How to bid using your phone or tablet 1. To bid using your phone or tablet you first need to download the eBay app from the app store (this is free). 2. If you are using an iPhone, iPad or Android device, you can scan the QR code below using the eBay app (you can also do this with other QR code scanning apps). From here you can view and bid on items 3. If you are using a BlackBerry or other smartphone, you can access the eBay app, but will need to search for ‘Association of Colleges’ manually to access the auction. For some special items, i.e. those for Colleges/charities only, you will need to be a ‘pre-approved bidder’ Carole Stott, Chair AoC Charitable Trust Martin Doel, Chief Executive Association of Colleges 1. To sign up to access these special items, email Kieran Cunningham, quoting your name, address and eBay ID (you will need to set up an eBay account before doing this). Please also include a telephone number 2. Once you have received an email notification, you can start bidding Good luck and happy bidding! | Foreword | How to take part in the auction | Goods for Colleges | Mentoring Opportunities for FE middle or senior managers | | Sporting merchandise/memorabilia/experiences | Guest Speakers | Dining/Cooking experiences, hotel breaks | | Hair and Beauty Therapies | Other Items |
