1. Released as a single in August 1973, X went straight to
the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and reached number
five on the UK singles chart. The song was also a #1 hit in
both Canada and Australia for five weeks each and
topped the charts in many countries throughout Europe
and the rest of the world. The principal songwriter wrote
in his biography that X is basically heroin and his attempt
while detoxing in Switzerland to once and for all "say
goodbye". Two music videos were shot to promote the
song. The song garnered controversy when, in 2005, the
German party CDU used the song for its election
campaign for Angela Merkel, though the band who had
performed the song hadn’t given them permission to do
so. Identify X.

2007 Ig Nobel Prize in Aviation went to Patricia V.
Agostino, Santiago A. Plano, and Diego A.
Golombek of Universidad Nacional de Quilmes,
Argentina for their discovery that X aids jet
lag recovery in hamsters. Professional athletes
have been documented using X, believing the

in five sets. In 2005, X left Nike after 17 years and
signed an endorsement deal with Adidas. A major
reason for X leaving Nike was because Nike refused to
donate to X's charities and Adidas was more than
happy to do so. In 2005 Tennis magazine named X the
7th greatest male player—and 12th greatest player
overall—for the period 1965 through 2005. On July 9,

4. In medieval England there were nomadic
mercenaries who wandered the country side and
would sell their services to the highest bidder.
These were hardened fighters who lived solitary
lives in the wilderness. They did not have the
luxury of servants to polish their armor and it
would oxidize to a blackish hue, and they came to
be known as black knights. At local town festivals
they would have exhibition jousting matches in
which the winner of the fight would win the
loser's weapons and armor. The local gentry,
softened by the good life, would lose to these
black knights. The nomadic knights didn't have
much use for an extra set of armor and would sell
it back to them immediately after the fight. The
losing nobility would be forced to buy back their
armor. Which oft used term did this give rise to?
Black Market.

20. X coined the word Y (the behavioral equivalent of a gene)
to describe how Darwinian principles might be extended to
explain the spread of ideas and cultural phenomena. This
has spawned the field of Ytics. X‘s Ys refer to any cultural
entity that an observer might consider a replicator of a
certain idea or a complex of ideas. X hypothesised that
people could view many cultural entities as capable of such
replication, generally through exposure to humans, who
have evolved as efficient (although not perfect) copiers of
information and behaviour. Ys are not always copied
perfectly, and might indeed become refined, combined or
otherwise modified with other ideas, resulting in new
memes, which may themselves prove more, or less,
efficient replicators than their predecessors, thus providing
a framework for a hypothesis of cultural evolution,
analogous to the theory of biological evolution based on
genes. Identify both X AND Y, the author The Selfish Gene.
X- Richard Dawkins

36.Ferdowsi, the famed Iranian poet-historian, gives a
number of accounts of royal X tournaments in his 9th
century epic, Shahnameh (the Epic of Kings), including
an international match. Certainly Persian literature and

the Calcutta X Club (1862). X is now an active sport in

  • 1. 1. Released as a single in August 1973, X went straight to the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and reached number five on the UK singles chart. The principal songwriter wrote in his biography that X is basically heroin and his attempt while detoxing in Switzerland to once and for all "say goodbye". • 7. 4. In medieval England there were nomadic mercenaries who wandered the country side and would sell their services to the highest bidder. These were hardened fighters who lived solitary lives in the wilderness. At local town festivals they would have exhibition jousting matches in which the winner of the fight would win the loser's weapons and armor. The local gentry, softened by the good life, would lose to these black knights. The nomadic knights didn't have much use for an extra set of armor and would sell it back to them immediately after the fight. The losing nobility would be forced to buy back their armor. Ys are not always copied perfectly, and might indeed become refined, combined or otherwise modified with other ideas, resulting in new memes, which may themselves prove more, or less, efficient replicators than their predecessors, thus providing a framework for a hypothesis of cultural evolution, analogous to the theory of biological evolution based on genes.
