ECAN and GEMS provide cash and relief materials to flood victims.
1. Educational Consultancy Association of Nepal (ECAN) recently donated Rs
155,000 to the ‘Prime Ministers Disaster Relief Fund’ on the occasion of its
18th Anniversary which was held on August 29 in the capital.
The donation was handed over to the relief fund through Purushottam
Poudel, Minister for youth and sports at a programme organised on the
occasion of the anniversary of ECAN.
Similarly, on August 25, members of the Social Service Club and the
student council from GEMS Institute of Higher Education provided 30 relief
packets to the Nepal Army Wives’ Association, Bhadrakali, for distribution
to families affected by the recent floods in west Nepal.
A press statement issued here today by GEMS said that the packets
consisted of essential items such as dry food (beaten rice, instant noodles,
biscuits), salt, sugar, utensils, tarpaulin sheet, water purifier, soaps, jeevan
jal, antiseptic solution, cotton wool, a piece of rope and fire-starter
(matches).
It further said that the contents of the relief packets were collected through
a college wide donation drive organised by the Social Service Club and a
month’s salary donated by executive director Pujan Khadka for the relief
fund.
