4. EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS:
THE MONTGOMERY GI BILL
Under the Montgomery GI Bill --
Active Duty, active duty soldiers
receive a monthly benefit to attend
nearly any degree, certification, or
training program full time,
including distance and
correspondence learning.
Soldiers can contribute their own
funds as well, which the military
matches, typically on an 8 to 1
basis up to a large amount.

5. EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS:
POST-9/11 GI BILL
Since 2001, the Post-9/11 GI
bill now includes expanded
benefits, up to paying for the
entire tuition fee for state
colleges.
In addition, a stipend is
available for living expenses as
well as school fees and books.
Reservists who serve at least
90 days can receive up to 80%
of the current benefits as well.

6. PAY AND BONUSES
BENEFITS
On top of that, there is a
uniform allowance, food
allowances or access to a
dining hall, and housing
allowances or on-base
free room.
Cost of living adjustments
are made for soldiers
based in the more
expensive areas of the
country.

7. PAY AND BONUSES
BENEFITS
There are also many
opportunities for bonuses.
Civilian experience and
specialty training often
directly translates into a
periodic bonus.
High-demand jobs also
pay incentives, such as a
translator with fluency in
Arabic and other Middle
Eastern languages.

8. FAMILY BENEFITS
The family and dependents of
those in the armed services are
just as important as the soldiers
themselves.
Relocation benefits and
separation pay is made available
to personnel. Healthcare is
provided free of charge and life
insurance is made available at a
discount.
Education benefits are also
payable to dependents in case of
disability and for veterans.

9. FAMILY BENEFITS
Vacation time is provided up to
30 days a year as well. There
are numerous recreational and
entertainment programs
available for family members
and children who live on base.
Finally, many ancillary
services, such as tax
preparation and legal services,
are provided free of charge.
