We are in the Desierto del Diablo in Argentina, a
land that the normal folks call (more famously
known as the) “The Devil’s Bed”… The legends
born from it are too vast and horrid to quote, thus
let us focus on our story... In the distance appears a
patch of dust.
A boy and a girl are riding on what looks like to be a
homemade car equipped with a sail, for which the
wind is their only source of energy. They are wearing
army uniforms and their faces are marked by; patches
of dust, ashes, stains of gasoline and small bruises.
Behind them in a far distance, we distinguish what
seems to be explosions, smoke and fires. It seems
like a whole city/country is on fire.
They are speeding along this emptiness
stroking the sand emanating from the choc of
the wheels and the ground, with the tip of their
fingers. The desert seems more appealing than
the hell their cruising away from.
The boy is agitating his head, he appears dizzy,
while the girl is starting to take her
uncomfortable clothes off.
He isn’t focused on the driving at all, in fact he
appears to be on “auto-pilot”. Some external
force is controlling his moves, and he gladly
lets himself manipulated by this puppeteer, he
doesn’t care! she starts to undress him too,
cutting his clothes with a knife.
The car is silently and smoothly sailing into the emptiness of
this red desert.
They don’t seem scared as they evolve in this environment.
In fact they are calm, and their facial expressions gradually
evolves to a sort of state of “Zen”.
In the horizon we start to notice a big arch, rising
from the dust. The girl grabs the boy’s hips
strongly and smiles. Suddenly an even stronger
gasp of wind blows them towards this structure
at extremely high speed, until they cross it.
Their ship stops under the arch. The teenagers are now levitating
in mid-air, and start to disintegrate gradually; as if the entire
molecules in their bodies dispersed themselves in fine air.
Finally, they rematerialize themselves higher in the sky. The
transformation resembles the dance of wild birds dancing in
communion in the sky.We distinguish them kissing and touching,
while progressively melting together. In the background, the
smoke and fire keep kissing the sky.
