This year, the focus will be made on the 25th Anniversary of the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU). Since its foundation in 1989, the UMA is facing serious challenges in achieving its objectives: the creation of joint structures for regional cooperation. The occasion of the 25th anniversary represents an opportunity for reflection on how to overcome these concerns. Is it time to consider a new strategic direction for the region? What role can civil society play in this new approach?
• Can the Maghreb let the time pass risking the possibility of not being able to face the demands of the people and a profound change in the global economy? What is the cost of not having a united Maghreb?
• A change in the political will is still possible in order to create a free flow of individuals, goods and funds.
• Can civil society unite what governments have been unable to achieve?
