2. What is reading fluency ?
Reading fluency is defined as the ability to
. decode and comprehend a text at the same time
,the ability to read connected text, rapidly
smoothly, effortlessly, and automatically with
little conscious attention to the mechanics of
.reading such as decoding
Reading a text with speed , accuracy , and
. proper expression

3. Components/Foundational Skills
of Reading Fluency
Reading fluency is comprised of
three component skills, or fluency
:indicators
accuracy, of word decoding •
automaticity of word recognition •
prosodyof oral text reading •

7. Read aloud
Students need to hear how a good reader reads
fluently
Teacher led read a loud using great expression and
show proper fluency
Students have a role model on how they should read

8. Repeated readings of familiar text allows students to
become more accurate and more speedy
Younger students can re-read the same story
repeatedly
Repeated readings can also be used to graph progress
of fluency rate

9. Scripts/plays that allow students
to practice prosody well

10. Fluency is Worthwhile
Fluency activities will make a
