From shouting to sharing Integrating PR and social media

But it offers up great opportunities Where once it was opportunities to see…. ….now it is all about conversations
But conversations are two-way
Those you own, those you don’t, those you share
Useful tips Content is king – focus on the getting the idea right Focus on a unifying platform – all internal and involved stakeholders pulling in the same direction Have conversations and be human Put the audience first Help people out Apply the 80 / 20 principle It’s okay to make mistakes, it’s not okay to cover them up Go from the inside out Use it as a taster, not the main meal Put yourself in the driving seat, not the brand If you have nothing to say, don’t say it Create cross-discipline campaign team Integrate, integrate, integrate Do less but better
Beware of false intimacy – it’s on the record

  • 1. From shouting to sharing Integrating PR and social media
  • 2. It used to be lovely and simple “I’ll fax my press release over to you”
  • 3. Now it seems very complex
  • 4. It can lead to this
  • 6. 2001 “We must change our website!” 2011 “We must get on Twitter!”
  • 7. But it offers up great opportunities Where once it was opportunities to see…. ….now it is all about conversations
  • 9. Those you own, those you don’t, those you share
  • 10. Useful tips Content is king – focus on the getting the idea right Focus on a unifying platform – all internal and involved stakeholders pulling in the same direction Have conversations and be human Put the audience first Help people out Apply the 80 / 20 principle It’s okay to make mistakes, it’s not okay to cover them up Go from the inside out Use it as a taster, not the main meal Put yourself in the driving seat, not the brand If you have nothing to say, don’t say it Create cross-discipline campaign team Integrate, integrate, integrate Do less but better
