Note: Chinese verb “shì” is not like the English verb “to be”. It
remains unchanged in form under any circumstances and
undergoes no morphological changes of time, aspect, person,
gender or number.

Note: The negative form of the verb “shì” must be “bú shì” with the
negative adverb “bù” placed before “shì”. The form “shì bù” does
not exist in Chinese.

Grammar and Notes
1. Personal pronouns used as attributive modifiers and the
structural particle “de”.
“De” should be used after a personal pronoun when the structure
expresses possession. For example:

If the noun attributively modified expresses kinship, “de” can be
omitted after the personal pronoun. For example:
