3. Professor Possum’s Classroom A squirrels nest is called a drey, and it is usually built in the limbs of a tree.
4. Professor Possum’s Classroom Squirrels are clever little fellows and they use the materials that are available to build their nest.
5. In California squirrels sometimes build their nest in palm trees Mama squirrel used parts of the palm tree she lived in to build this nest.
6. Fur trees and pine trees are great places to live. Notice how the mother squirrel wove the pine needles into this cozy home for her babies.
7. This industrious squirrel used the stuffing and cover from somebody’s lawn chair to build this nest that overlooked the pool. Squirrels living next door to people, sometime borrow from their neighbors.
8. When its “c-c-cold” squirrels become very inventive in building a nest. This nest includes sticks, grass and pieces of cloth. The black item in the middle is somebody’s sock.
9. In this nest the squirrel incorporated a plastic shopping bag she found on the street. Please be careful when you dispose of plastic shopping bags.
