3. Dionysus is the son of Zeus, a Greek god and
Semele, who is a mortal woman. One day
Semele was killed by Zeus’s lightning bolt,
while Dionysus was still in her womb. After
Dionysus was rescued, Zeus had rescued the
baby Dionysus and implanted him in his thigh.
Zeus then handed Dionysus to Hermes, the
messenger of the gods. So, Zeus ended up
raising Dionysus with Semele’s sister after the
death of Semele.
4. GODLY OFFSPRING: Hymenaios, Iakkhos,
Kharites, Methe, Pasithea, Priapos, Sabazios,
Telete, and Thysa
