22 August Junction City MAC Breakfast: Make your reservations for our next MAC Breakfast on Thursday, Aug 22nd at the Geary County
Convention Center, Courtyard by Marriott. Guest Speaker is COL Jeffrey Broadwater, Commander of the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat
Team. The Breakfast will begin at 7:30am. Deadline to register for the breakfast will be Monday, August 19. Cost of the breakfast is $12

23-25 August 7:30 PM a production of Hoo Haw at The Columbian Theatre Wamego, KS Hoo Haw is a gut busting comedy
performance that is sure to make you laugh. KORN county residents will perform their hysterical antics along with gospel and country
songs. The Hoo Haw veterans will be returning to the stage for an evening that will leave you saying you’ve never laughed this hard in
your life. Director Troy Hemphill, Drew and Christie Horton, Brad Voth, Mindy Theirolf, Krysten Day, Shelley Rickstrew and Mark Portell
will be taking the stage hootin’ and hollerin! There will be classic and contemporary music featured by the band, Pott. County Posse that

23 August 6 :30-9pm.Enjoy hand-crafted samples of Manhattan's Tallgrass Brewing Co. at this annual fundraiser benefitting Sunset Zoo

24 August Annual Fall Daylily Sale: Flint Hills Daylily Society will hold their annual fall daylily sale on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the
Farmers Market in Manhattan, 8am to noon. New location is in the northwest parking lot of the Manhattan Town Center Mall. We'll offer
several hundred different bareroot daylilies, in many colors and flower types. Daylilies are the perfect summer perennial-- very colorful and
easy-care. Come early for the best selection! Priced $5 and up.
24 August NFL Punt, Pass & Kick: Come on out to Colyer Manor Youth Sports Complex on Aug 24th 9am-Noon, for the NFL Punt, Pass &

28 & 29 August Purple Power Play on Poyntz City Park: Join the K-State Wildcats beginning 6pm with a pep rally to kick off the 2013
Football season! This is a two day event, community-wide and spirit lifting great time. Fun for all! So get out your purple shirts and show

13 & 20 Sept Ft Riley Flag Football Team Tryouts: Looking for a team to get involved with, try out for the Fort Riley Flag Football Team.
Tryouts are being held on Sept. 13 & 20th at 6pm at SACCO Softball Complex. Tryouts are open to active duty soldiers only and the team

IACH Updates: Flu Vaccines- Vaccines will be available at the Fall Festival and other venues, but the numbers maybe limited due to budget
cuts.
Other ways to get vaccines for family members-they can get vaccinated at other appointments (like a routine checkup, etc) so they do not
need to make an appointment specifically for it.
Tricare UnitedHealth Military & Veterans Services Referrals Updates: is now doing referrals and are fully engaged (during the transition the
local MTF was handling the referrals) If a Family member receives a referral, please wait to receive the referral letter in the mail before
making the appointment. If you make the appointment before getting the letter, it may result in a medical bill that you are not expecting.
*The letter has been reformatted and is much easier to read
*Urgent issues can go to the referral office to get the letter printed
*Routine referrals could take up to 5 days to get in the mail and then the mail delivery time is added to that
*Providers are faxed a copy of the referral and may receive it before the patient
*Referrals for issues that are not chronic are good for 180 days
*Referrals for chronic issues are good for 365 days
Family Readiness Group (FRG) On-Line Training:
On-line Training: ACS has these class to offer online for FRG’s for volunteers if your unable to take them in a class room setting. See flyer
below for available class at the ACS.

Furlough Days Reduced: It has been announced, due to a combination of congressional approvals and departmental budget management
efforts, Mr. Hagel directing that furloughs for most DoD civilians be reduced from 11 days (88 hours) to six days (48 hours). The last 2
furloughs days for Ft Riley will be 16 and 30 August. NOTE: Commissary is back to NORMAL business hours!

teen deadline application turn in by 4 October The session is from 17 Nov-8 Feb for ages 15-18 year olds. Youth looking to build valuable
career and life skills can get a head start with HIRED!, a 12-week program that offers work experience at a variety of organizations at Fort

HASFR Apple Pie Pre-sales are underway for another year. Apple Day will fall on Saturday October 5th this year, so start planning
now. Pre-sales will be accepted this year from August 15 thru September 27th. Pre ordering your famous Libby Custer Apple Pie has been
a tradition for many years to ensure you are able to reserve your delicious Apple Pie. Pre orders this year are $11.00 thru September 27,
tax included. By pre-ordering your pie not only are you reserving your pie you will also not have to stand in line on Apple Day as we will
have a separate table for you to pick up your pie if you had not already done so. Pies at apple day will be $13.00 frozen and $14.00 baked.
Deadline for ordering is September 27. If ordering by mail, please mail order form and payment before the 24th. For additional

located with Arts & Crafts and the USO). The Dallas Cowboys game is sold but tickets still left for the remainder of the season. Check out

game tickets are also available. Unfortunately tickets sold out for their first game & against UMASS. Prices vary.

Other ways to get vaccines for family members-they can get vaccinated at other appointments (like a routine checkup, etc) so they do not need to make an appointment specifically for it.

Tricare UnitedHealth Military & Veterans Services Referrals Updates: is now doing referrals and are fully engaged (during the transition the local MTF was handling the referrals) If a Family member receives a referral, please wait to receive the referral letter in the mail before making the appointment. If you make the appointment before getting the letter, it may result in a medical bill that you are not expecting. *The letter has been reformatted and is much easier to read *Urgent issues can go to the referral office to get the letter printed *Routine referrals could take up to 5 days to get in the mail and then the mail delivery time is added to that *Providers are faxed a copy of the referral and may receive it before the patient *Referrals for issues that are not chronic are good for 180 days *Referrals for chronic issues are good for 365 days Family Readiness Group (FRG) On-Line Training: On-line Training: ACS has these class to offer online for FRG’s for volunteers if your unable to take them in a class room setting. Furlough Days Reduced: It has been announced, due to a combination of congressional approvals and departmental budget management efforts, Mr. Hagel directing that furloughs for most DoD civilians be reduced from 11 days (88 hours) to six days (48 hours). Pre orders this year are $11.00 thru September 27, tax included. By pre-ordering your pie not only are you reserving your pie you will also not have to stand in line on Apple Day as we will have a separate table for you to pick up your pie if you had not already done so. Pies at apple day will be $13.00 frozen and $14.00 baked. Deadline for ordering is September 27. If ordering by mail, please mail order form and payment before the 24th.
