2. Task 3
My main character is called John Graves and he was born in 2128.
One day when he was 12, he was helping clear some debris to clear
some room for the town. As he was doing this, a bright stalker (one of
the games enemies) tried to attack him but luckily missed. John
began to run away from the monster but carelessly tripped over some
of the debris and fell into a small pit which contained chemicals and
radiation. After some time, he was able to successfully put on his Gas
mask, but the chemicals were still able to knock him unconscious.
Later on, some of the groups survivors found him whilst on a search
and took him back to he village. Over the next couple of years, the
chemicals and radiation began interfering with his genetic codes and
John began to grow ‘supernatural’ powers such as creating fire from
his hands, electricity or even having telekinesis.
With his newfound abilities, John is considered a hero by the survivors
as his powers have aided many people and saved them from monsters.
He is determined, friendly and very good with weapons. He has long
brown hair, brown eyes and is tall.
3. After typing about my character, I then spent some time drawing
concept art showing various ideas such as stances which I could use
for my actual character. The image on the left shows my character
using his powers. He is holding fire on one image, using electricity
and holding a pistol on another, shooting fire from this hands on the
third and using a mix of fire and electricity on the last. The image
above this text shows a rifle which I would really like to use on the
final design. I used an image of the rifle from my Task 1 research
which helped me draw this piece.
4. These images mainly show my character with the rifle I want to use. I
tried out a few stances and camera angles and preferred the side-on
view. I then went on to produce the image on the right with has a
combination of fire and the rifle. I believe this image looks actually
quite good ( not the drawing, but the stance ) and is a strong contender
of something I could use for a final image. I took a lot of inspiration from
the ‘Possible characters’ slide of my Task 1 research when creating the
image on the right. I also drew a first design of a gas mask which he will
have.
5. On another page, I began to draw different weapons
in which my character could use. I wanted him to
have a rifle and a pistol, so I looked at a few images
of pistols on the internet and drew designs for two
completely different ones. A Glock pistol and a
Revolver.
6. After the guns, I then went on to design a number of
powers my character has gained. This image shows my
characters hand and what it could look like in-game once
that power is equipped. There are 6 powers up till now –
Fire, Electricity, Ice, Telekinesis, Wind blast and Mind
control. Fire can be used to severely damage enemies or
destroy objects such as wood or light up dark areas.
Electricity could be used to stun enemies or power
machines. Ice could be used to freeze enemies or water to
open up new areas. Telekinesis can be used to lift large or
small objects to open new areas or fire them at enemies.
Wind Blast can be used to push enemies within an area
backwards or create a small hurricane to pull them all in.
Mind control could add a great feature into the game where
the player could take over an enemy and actually control
them. This could be used to add variation to the combat
and would be interesting to be able to control tons of
creatures. Creatures could also have special abilities which
could too open new areas
7. This is a small piece I drew for my
background, when it comes to it, to
show a few damage buildings that I
could re-create in Illustrator. This
includes land marks such as Big Ben and
St. Paul and a house in case my
background involves a street with
houses.
