Join Calcasieu Parish Public Schools (LA) as they share their "Top 10" tools in action! A Blackboard client for the past 9 years, Calcasieu began using Blackboard software solely for professional development and has expanded its use to extending classroom instruction. Kim Leblanc, eLearning Coordinator, and Lisa Mullett, Web Network Specialist, will showcase examples utilizing Web 2.0 tools, including branded school websites, Skype, Camtasia, Studymate Author and more. You will also learn how blogs, wikis and podcasts can enhance the online learning environment. Over the past 2 years the district entered a new phase of Blackboard implementation, including K-12 student logins. This required the district to develop training requirements to ensure quality online courses. These courses are designed to guide participants in creating a collaborative online environment, promote active learning and utilize Web 2.0 tools. Learn more about the Blackboard Mentor Project, Calcasieu's latest endeavor, which is designed to help support their ever expanding use and serve as a means of supporting users at the school level in a way that is easily replicated.
