9. Would You Run 100 psi in Your 4x4?
6000 lb. Landcruiser
4 Tires at 35 psi
6,000/4 =1500 lb per tire
11,000 lbs. Tandem Drive
8 Tires at 100psi
11,000/8 = 1375 lb. per tire
Why Do We Run 100 psi in Our Trucks
12. What is the Correct Tire Pressure?
Weigh each axle
Consult the Tire Manufacturer
Inflate to the Recommended Pressures
EXAMPLE: Standard Tandem or Bogie Drive;
Legal Weight Limit = 34,000 lbs in most states
Two axles = 17,000 lbs. per axle
4 tyres per axle = 4250 lbs. per tire
14. How Low Can You Go?
Most Tire companies don’t like recommending any pressure under 65 or 70 psi, if Central
Tire Inflation is not used.
2.0 bar = 25psi
With CTI, pressures down to 25 psi, or 1.7 bar, depending upon the load.
15. Lower Pressures Work Great
On Gravel Roads
Gravel and Dirt benefit from lower pressures at heavier loads.
