Bricolage: A piece of makeshift handiwork.
Pastiche: A literary, musical, or artistic piece consisting mainly of motifs or
techniques borrowed from one or more sources.
Aesthetics: The branch of philosophy dealing with such notions as the beautiful, the ugly, the
sublime, the comic, etc., as applicable to the fine arts, with a view to establishing the meaning and
validity of critical judgments concerning works of art, and the principles underlying or justifying
such judgments
Relativism: Any theory holding that criteria of judgment are relative, varying with
individuals and their environments.
Intent: Something that is intended; purpose; design; intention.
Modernism: A deliberate philosophical and practical estrangement or divergence
from the past in the arts and literature occurring especially in the course of the 20th
century and taking form in any of various innovative movements and styles.
Postmodernism: Any of a number of trends or movements in the arts and literature
developing in the 1970s in reaction to or rejection of the dogma, principles, or
practices of established modernism, especially a movement in architecture and the
decorative arts running counter to the practice and influence of the International Style
and encouraging the use of elements from historical vernacular styles and often
playful illusion, decoration, and complexity.
