• Disabled 27 mines by himself and allowed his
  team to move in safely for a critical mission
  ahead

•   Viller-Cotterets, France ( July 18, 1918 )

• Disobeyed his orders and went to capture
  many machine gunners by himself against the
  enemy
Thomas E. Atkins

•   Villa Verde Trail, Luzon, Philippine Islands, 10
    March 1945

• Him and his comrades were attacked in the
  middle of the night by two companies of Japs,
  despite their heavy artillery and getting shot and
  both of his companions getting killed, he fought
  back forced them to retreat.

•   Heckhuscheid, Germany, February 1945

• While on patrol in Heckhuschied, Germany, him
  and his company undertook heavy machinegun
  fire pinning them down in a house. Later he
  stealthily crawled behind the machine gunners
  killing 7 just with his .45 pistol.
