Tennis can be played by people of any age or sex, either in singles matches with one player against another or doubles matches with two teams of two players each. The basic equipment needed includes a tennis ball, tennis racket, and another player or players. Points are scored by winning rallies, with games going to the first player or team to reach four points and sets going to the first to win six games and be ahead by two games. If the set is tied at six games each, a tiebreaker is played to determine the winner of the set.

• Allows the ball to bounce
twice on his side of the
court
• Returns the ball outside the

• Contacts the ball with the
racket more than once.

other than the racket.
• Hits the ball before it has
passed over the net to their side.
• Touches any part of the
net with their person.
• In doubles hits the ball after
their partner has already done
so, before the ball has
returned to the other side.
