Organization and Priorities as a WAHM Organization and Priorities as a WAHM Organization And Priorities As A WAHM
1. ORGANIZATION
When it comes to working at home you need to be organized. A well-organized
space where you can work will help you become more productive.
This is especially helpful when meeting with clients and finding time to actually
work. You will feel less stress when it is clean and clutter-free.
Home Workspace Organization
It is important to have a well-organized home office or workspace. The beauty of
having an organized workspace is that you get more done if everything is in place.
Set up a system once and you can avoid wasting time trying to search under piles
of paperwork and supplies.
Here are some helpful tips to organize your office space:
Keep essential office supplies on your desk. Try to limit the office supplies on
your desk to the bare minimum. You can store extra boxes of paper and pens
in a cabinet.
Only have frequently used electronics near you. If you use the printer every
day keep it close, but the fax machine used occasionally can be moved to a
corner out of your way.
Keep it clean. Try and keep your space clean with just a few minutes a day. It
can quickly become overcrowded with scrap pieces of paper and junk if you
don’t keep up on it.
Upgrade your lighting. In addition to overhead lighting choose some smaller
lights for task lighting.
Choose containers that look similar. Your space will appear more organized if
the containers are similar, in size or color.
Get the best chair you can afford. You will spend A LOT of time in your chair
when working. It needs to be comfortable.
2. PRIORITIZE
As a mother we need to pay attention to the important people in our lives. We
need to set our priorities and let some things go. It’s okay if the laundry hasn’t
been done in a week. Don’t beat yourself up and give yourself more stress.
Usually we start working from home to be around our children while they are
young so relax about the little things. Let some things slide and don’t stress about
it. Concentrate on the important responsibilities you have.
These will be different for every family and every situation. We all face different
struggles and have different gifts. And once you figure out your priorities you can
expect them to change as your family and situation changes. You need to learn to
be flexible while setting priorities.
When something is important to you you’ll more likely make the time for it.
If you begin feeling overwhelmed, it is important to scale back to a more
reasonable amount of work. Trying to do too much can burn you out quickly.
Give the important tasks and people in our life your time and focus. They deserve
it and you can be happy knowing you are giving them your full attention.
