Synopsis of music video concept / idea
(Description of your music video themes)
 Starts as scenery shots with revolving camera over to the character
 Drug addiction
 Violent nature
 Psychological alterations and unpredictability
 Alterations in visual effects

My idea revolves around the convention in UK Hip-Hop being drug abuse, the main
character will be an isolated man with a heavy drug addiction of which effects his attitude
and persona with each artists singing being a new persona with different emotions. With
sudden changes in location with alterations in visual effects with new colour schemes. This
will make my music video a conceptual piece with elements of performance and a narrative
following the lyrics to some degree. I will have two identical characters that both have
problems in their life following their lives alongside the music, these 2 characters will meet at
the end with the only difference being eye colour.
From my research conceptual features are often used in the music videos meaning I have a
wide array of different ideas I can implement. I will mainly be looking at the schizophrenic
impacts of drug abuse to the main character from isolation, depression and anger prominent.
I plan to have a developing story of emotion yet have events mixed up and not solely
chronological with multiple disturbing flashbacks when parts of the song trigger.

Story
The video will follow a narrative of which the character has to go through being a drug
addict, from being kicked out his house by his girlfriend/mum to being homeless sleeping on
the street then witnessing a murder with originally the character being depressed but even
through witnessing the murder his mood is changed slightly then his location is changed with
the same expression.
When it starts there will be an establishing shot of a view from a hill with Jonah in view
contrasting from a nice day to bad weather. It will fade then there will be a shot of Jonah just
walking, maybe down a hallway or a street, with a really blank look on his face; he’s wearing
normal clean clothes. Use a mix of cuts and shots, focusing on his blank face and clean
clothes. When the drums come in it cuts to Jonah walking down the same street, but wearing
clothes stained with blood, he looks really messy, as if he’s on drugs and is homeless.
When jam Baxter comes in it cuts to a scenes of him doing everyday activities, this could be
a range of things like hanging up washing, watching TV, interacting with others, walking a
dog etc. the ending shot could be of Jonah directly in frame, just sitting on a sofa changing
the channel smoking in his lounge.
When Mr Key comes on, the scene changes to the exact same shot of Jonah, but he’s sitting
against a wall, where he’s at looks like a really bad place, like a crack den or trap house. He
looks absolutely awful, he’s wearing a ripped t-shirt, he starts throwing up to his left but then

2. cuts back quickly to him looking ahead of him this time shaking and rocking back and
forward. It cuts again, he composes himself he looks at his phone which is receiving texts, a
shot of his phone, showing the text “we’re done” he then looks up and witnesses a murder,
his only reaction being his eyes widening, this then cuts to the other character with the same
expression (daytime.)
(These two artists will be seen as the same character)
(New character- only difference being coloured eye lenses)
When it cuts to Ronnie, Jonah’s second character is being kicked out the house by his
girlfriend or mum who is shouting so he has his eyes wide like the previous scene. He has all
his clothes and is wondering down the street until he gets to a secluded area in a forest of
which he appears to use the hypodermic needle to take drugs. There are faded shots of him
doing erratic thing with his unbalanced self. There will be alongside the spinning various
hallucinations where things told in the lyrics occur with blood running down various items
and broken glasses shattering. He will be centre of the screen he then falls to the floor with
the camera following. There will be various visual enhancements and effects to show the
effects of the drugs. He will then fade into darkness.

He will then awaken looking angry with a weapon in his hand starting in a dark room when
singing and at the place that the other character was before when he witnessed the murder
when following narrative. The lyrics will be imitated “die and escape Try and erase the bad
lies violence and hate Try and abide the bad guy try and behave Try and replace a man's
mind at night with a spade” alternating between him walking towards a group and singing
then he begins laying into a group of men who were laughing at him in slow motion so he
pulls out his weapon and attacks with the shot fading out.
When the last artist begins signing the shots will alternate between characters both walking
to the same destination with the same expression with brief erratic cuts of what they both
have done and how they feel inside with vivid emotions expressed. Then finally they bump
into each other on the street then stare at each other, and then the shot fades to the man
lying dead on the floor.
