1. CFI Welcomes 10 Interns from
the CFI/HELP Partnership
On Monday, August 19, 2013, CFI welcomed
this year’s 10 graduating students as part of the CFI/
HELP partnership .
This year’s four week training program will
allow students from HELP (Haitian Education and
Leadership Partnership) to become familiar with the
activities of CFI where they will gain administrative
and technical skills in order to help them integrate
into Haiti’s labor market.
CFI Facilitation Department will take a lead
role this year in assigning the interns to the CFI
After Care Program. Students will perform site visits
of existing companies in order for them to conduct
surveys and collect data.
On Thursday August 22, 2013, a delegation of
nine senior level business leaders from the Cintas
Corporation arrived in Port-au-Prince in order to
explore additional sourcing opportunities. The
delegation coordinated by CFI and ADIH, visited
several factories, located in Parc Industriel Sonapi
and surrounding areas. The group led by David
Wheeler, Senior Vice President Global Supply Chain,
met with several potential manufacturers and were

This visit r s that Haiti is still in demand as a
sourcing destination, mainly due to the advantages
provided by the HOPE/HELP legislation as well as
proximity to North American markets.
CFI made its monthly site visit to Cap-Haïtien on
Friday August 23, 2013. Sector leaders met with CFI’s
local of ce in Cap-Haïtien, toured the Caracol
Industrial Park to get an update on the park’s
construction progress and met with current
manufacturers located in the PIC. Sa Apparel
Corporation, PIC’s latest tenant has begun their
installation process. Daniel Cho, President of S &H
Global, SA (Sae-A), the park’s anchor tenant,
enthusiastically showed our team their progress as
they move into their next phase in production. Hiring
and training for S&H’s second facility has begun as they
expand to increase their workforce to an additional
1,400 workers by November 2013. Two new broiler
rooms and washing facility are expected to be
operational by the end of September 2013.
