Enjoy a half day outing on 116 acres of land (mostly wooded) adjacent to U.S. Ford on the Rappahannock River where
70,000 Union troops crossed to enter the Chancellorsville Battle Field and exited three days later. Numerous Civil War
relics have been found on this property including those displayed in the associated case. Most found relics are from
the Union Army. However, some are Confederate such as the Mississippi uniform button in the case.
A minimum of three metal detectors will be provided for a partly of up to six. The party will be escorted by individuals
experienced in relic hunting. Older children are welcome, but remember that most of the hunting will occur in
wooded areas and there must be sufficient adults to ensure safety. Refreshments and a picnic lunch will also be
provided. The property is approximately one and one-half hours travel from the beltway.
