The SAR-Corporate Governance and Investment Centre of Excellency TRUST for Southern
Africa is a young independent research ,training, education, advocacy, consulting and
publication centre for; business, public health, corporate governance , corporate law and
international trade and investment, law and policy. The abbreviations, CGICE, CGIC,
CE,TRUST and SAR- CGICE will be used enter-changeably and will have the same meaning.
The programmes offered by CGIC (The Corporate Governance and Investment Centre) will
provide further access to the world –class executive education, community studies, training,
research and development for Southern African countries. CGIC shapes the strategic agendas
across the Southern African Region (SAR) and the globe at large.

CGICE is responding to the growing demands for the world-class standards of practice and
promotion of a sustainable economic development free from the risk of economic crimes and
the HIV/AIDS pandemic .CGICE seeks to provide executive and community education
supported by research and publications to the leading companies and the community at large.
Research and publications will rapidly transform the Southern African Region (SAR) through
the Centres of Excellency (CE).

The CGIC‟s main aim is to establish the CGIC Regional Head Office in Pretoria South Africa
and the Operating centres in Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Mozambique and Malawi. These countries
are a natural fit within the SAR for our initiative. The program will be rolled out to several
countries in the region.

Situated in the knowledge economy centres of the region; the Centre of Excellence (CE)
programmes enable learning from top-flight local, regional and international business and law
schools, international corporate governance excellence centres and research institutions. The
CE will enable access to the latest research and share learning experiences with high calibre
participants-providing an opportunity to forge African Continent and international alliances.

SAR-Corporate Governance and Investment Centre of Excellency TRUST strives to become
known as the dominant centre for the research and application of responsible corporate
governance principles worldwide, Public community health, the application of rural business
schools for our continent. With over 60 % of the population in the Member States of the Africa
Union (AU) living in rural areas, which cover 91 % of the territory, rural development is a vitally
important policy area. Farming and forestry remain crucial for land use and the management of
natural resources in the AU's rural areas, and as a platform for economic diversification in rural
communities. The strengthening of AU rural development policy is, therefore, an overall CGICE
TRUST priority.

CGICE TRUST is proposing to support the economic recovery of Zimbabwe by strengthening
the sustainable development through rural business and research schools throughout the
country.

CGICE Finance and Administration Advisor (Volunteer)

I am a fifty-year-old woman who has worked for the International Crops Research
Institute for the Semi Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) in the Finance Department at the
Zimbabwe Location for seventeen years. The ICRSAT Headquarters are in
Hyderabad, India.

The success of any donor dependant organization rests heavily on having the right staff
with lots of integrity and relevant experience in place at the right time. The continued
renewal of my annual contracts at ICRISAT for the past seventeen years bears witness
to my honesty, dedication, cumulated knowledge of and apt compliance with different
donor requirements. My association with ICRISAT has cultivated in me a strong
passion to work with organizations that expound and stand for preservation of
humanity.

I am a self-motivated person who has gone through informal education to acquire the
skills and knowledge that have enabled me to work in the Finance and Purchasing
Department of ICRISAT-Bulawayo, an international, agricultural research organization
based in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe with Head Offices in Patancheru, India for seventeen
years now. In 1996, I became head of the Finance Division and in 1999 the location
grew in size from five scientists to twelve without a reciprocal growth in the service
department but I have managed to hold the fort.

With total responsibility for the financial accounting, fulfilment of donor requirements
and observing host government laws, my position at ICRISAT has exposed me to
handling big projects under donors like USAID, GTZ, CIDA and DFID. My years at
ICRISAT involved me in the running and the successful winding up of the Sorghum and
Millet Improvement Programme (SMIP) a huge programme which ran for almost twenty
years with the following donor commitments:-
             USAID - US$40,910,000
             CIDA - C$6,781,745
             GTZ - DM1, 700,000
             DFID - GBP641, 266.
ICRISAT still has on going projects under the same donors including the EU and FAO.

  • 15. CGICE Finance and Administration Advisor (Volunteer) I am a fifty-year-old woman who has worked for the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) in the Finance Department at the Zimbabwe Location for seventeen years. The ICRSAT Headquarters are in Hyderabad, India. The success of any donor dependant organization rests heavily on having the right staff with lots of integrity and relevant experience in place at the right time. The continued renewal of my annual contracts at ICRISAT for the past seventeen years bears witness to my honesty, dedication, cumulated knowledge of and apt compliance with different donor requirements. My association with ICRISAT has cultivated in me a strong passion to work with organizations that expound and stand for preservation of humanity. I am a self-motivated person who has gone through informal education to acquire the skills and knowledge that have enabled me to work in the Finance and Purchasing Department of ICRISAT-Bulawayo, an international, agricultural research organization based in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe with Head Offices in Patancheru, India for seventeen years now. In 1996, I became head of the Finance Division and in 1999 the location grew in size from five scientists to twelve without a reciprocal growth in the service department but I have managed to hold the fort. With total responsibility for the financial accounting, fulfilment of donor requirements and observing host government laws, my position at ICRISAT has exposed me to handling big projects under donors like USAID, GTZ, CIDA and DFID. My years at ICRISAT involved me in the running and the successful winding up of the Sorghum and Millet Improvement Programme (SMIP) a huge programme which ran for almost twenty years with the following donor commitments:- USAID - US$40,910,000 CIDA - C$6,781,745 GTZ - DM1, 700,000 DFID - GBP641, 266. ICRISAT still has on going projects under the same donors including the EU and FAO. Founding Director & Trust Chairman: Mr G. Murena (LLM, MBA, LLB (Hons) Law, ACIArb) Trustees: Mr J.
