Let’s move on to the next question: What do we communicate or better: what is the message we would like to convey?Obviously, our message is: TECA is a great tool, with added value for its usersWhile it is important to be able to name TECAs advantages, we found it is very important, also as we further develop the platform, to know TECAs comparative advantage; its niche among the many web-based services, which (1) focus on small-producers or (2) document technological innovation/ best practices or (3) provide an online platform for knowledge exchange. In a quite elaborate comparison and analysis we compared TECA to over a dozen other websites. What I present here, are only the conclusions we drew from this comparison. We drew the conclusion that TECA has indeed a clearly identifiable comparative advantage, not with individual features it has, but rather with the unique combination of features that other services offer as well.CLICK (see comm. strat. for an explanation of that point)CLICK (see comm. strat. for an explanation of this point)CLICK (see comm. strat. for an explanation of that point)We also want to share one of the more critical lessons we have learnt from this analysis and comparison. We realized that interactive knowledge exchange and sharing or to put it differently, to build a community requires specificity, be it a thematic focus or a geographical. See point 2.3.2.a (on page 5/6 of the communication strategy) on that point. This is one of the reasons why we plan to participate more actively in existing CoPs and interactive platforms. This takes us to the next question.
