2. Our History
• Joanne Jennings and Denise Rowson would regularly
raise money to help someone in need by asking
individuals for contributions of $20. Their desire to be
more systematic in giving and be able to help more
people inspired them to invite a group of friends to talk
about giving. In 2008, the group of women met at
noon to share a meal and their individual philosophies
about giving. They agreed to form a giving circle;
believing that by pooling their financial resources, they
could make a difference in the world. That was the
beginnings of the 20/20 Sisters of Vision Giving Circle.
6. Our Vision/Mission
Statements
• The 20/20 Sisters of Vision envision a world
where the love of God is demonstrated in
tangible acts of love, that is expressed between
and within all the communities of the world.
• The mission of the 20/20 Sisters of Vision is to
empower women and children in our immediate
and global communities to improve their quality
of life, in the areas of
health, education, economic development and
spirituality.
7. Angel Food Ministry
Families throughout the Triangle and throughout NC are
suffering from hunger. Not only are they poor and/or
unemployed, but they are also the working poor.
The 20/20 Sisters of Vision is an ongoing contributor to
The Angel Food Ministry of North Carolina. Boxes of
nutritious food are given to families in need monthly to
supplement their food supplies.
8. Lott Carey Society
African AIDS Initiative
• Commercialsexslavery is a world-wide problem that affects us
all directly or indirectly. In 2010, a team of 12 women went to
Addis Abba, Ethiopia on a fact finding mission to support
commercial sex workers through the African AIDS
International Initiative. The goal was to raise $25,000 to
support their work to combat the spread of AIDS and HIV
and support the lives of these women through the support of
this initiative through the The Lott Carey Mission .
• 20/20 Sisters of Vision contributed $1500 to this foreign
program in the support of African AIDS International Initiative
and the commercial sex workers in South Africa and Ethiopia.
9. Fans for Seniors in the Triangle
Initiative
• A call went out to the Raleigh-Durham
communities to support the purchase of new
fans to help senior citizens get fans during the
hot summer months of 2010.
• 20/20 SOV contributed $500 to purchase fans
for our seniors in the local area.
10. Interfaith Hospitality
Network
• The Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) is a
collaborative effort between local churches to
support homeless families. These local churches
provide shelter, food, and other support services.
• Contributions to IHN were at a low and families
were not able to receive necessary services.
• Our sisters decided to answer the call and make
a contribution to assist the homeless families
through this organization.
11. Family Health Ministries

• In 2010 after the earthquake in
Haiti, we supported the North
Carolina- based organization Family
Health Ministries by contributing
money for medical supplies and
sending human resources for
spiritual support to our brothers and
sisters in Haiti.
