Pillars
 Large-scale demonstration, including 3 district renovations (Laguna de
Duero, Lund, Soma);
 Maximization of the replication potential through the organization of a
Cluster of Cities and building a Community of Interest among cities;
 Development of innovative and cost effective methodologies and
procedures for planning, deploying and replicating energy efficient
district retrofitting actions;
 Development of improved business models to support the strategy for
transforming urban areas into Nearly Zero-Energy Districts;
 Large-scale dissemination and communication addressing multiple
stakeholders and citizens.

Key messages
 Reduction in energy demand and GHG emissions through smart retrofit
towards low energy and nearly zero emission cities and urban areas;
 Energy efficient district renovation on a European scale: CITyFiED delivers a
set of renewable and adaptable solutions interfacing with ICT and mobility;
 Replicability: a key to widespread and beneficial application of the CITyFiED
model;
 Innovative and cost effective methodologies and procedures for planning,
deploying and replicating energy efficient district retrofitting actions;
 Improved business models to support the strategy for transforming urban
areas into low energy and nearly zero emission cities.

CITyFiED

 Get direct access to replicable, systemic and integrated solutions for energy efficiency based on
large-scale demonstration sites;
 Learn about business models, partnerships frameworks need to transform urban areas into nearly
zero-energy districts (NZED);
 Networking, exchange of experience with high-level Smart City stakeholder community of over 50
cities and benchmark your energy-efficient retrofitting of buildings project;
 Knowledge transfer from Demo Sites and Cluster cities;
 Receive regularly information about CITyFiED through dedicated communications;
 Enhanced visibility at EU/national/regional/local level as part of project dissemination activities;
 Dedicated area in the CITyFiED website describing the Smart City plans of the city;
 Dedicated focus in project Newsletters (targeting an EU audience) and local Newsletters, articles &
interviews, press and news releases;
 Being invited to technical study tours/workshops/webinars with the aim of providing models for
