- The new M5 Black material will require some additional hygiene steps to ensure the best printing performance. This hygiene is strongly recommended when the printer has been sitting idle for more than 12 hrs. The hygiene process involves running test prints to clear out jets while using minimal material. An instruction manual for doing printhead hygiene is available now on 3DS Central. Changing over from M5 Black back to a lighter material like MX or M5-X will require the use of a new solution called EZ Flush to completely remove the M5 Black from the machine. EZ Flush is available now and detailed procedure for changing back from Black is now available on 3DS Central. Post processing M5 Black is very similar to MX – remove bulk wax using the ProJet Finisher XL oven, residual wax removal with EZ Rinse-C or some other type of light oil (corn oil, mineral oil, etc.) and washing off the part in soapy COLD water. Cold water seems to keep the parts black with good consistent finish.
