When Looking For The Right Floor
Getting ready to replace your floor? Here are seven important points to keep in
mind as you choose the right floor. Print out this checklist and bring it with you

1 Bring a sample.
Will your new floor need to coordinate with upholstery fabric, wall color, etc.? If so, take a pillow, slip
cover or paint sample with you so there’s no question of color match. Make sure you compare the color
under natural and artificial light.
2 Measure the room.
Make sure you carefully measure the room(s) including closets, hallways and offsets with a steel tape
measure. The measurements you take will be instrumental in obtaining estimates and pricing, however
to obtain an accurate quote prior to purchase, a professional measurement should be taken.
3 Count the number of windows in the room.
Make note of the size, number and exposure of windows in the room to determine exactly how light will
play on the color and texture of the flooring you are considering.
4 have a budget in mind.
Give some thought to how much of a financial investment you can make and don’t forget the cost of
padding and installation.
5 Check the quote.
Make sure to ask if the price being quoted includes padding and installation. Also, don’t forget to ask if
the cost of installation includes the movement of furniture and removal of old carpet.
6 don’t forget the receipt!
Get a receipt that details the style name, fiber content, color name, and square footage to be installed
and all other pertinent information regarding terms of the sale.
