1. Task 3- Analysis
I am studying and analysing. The title credit sequence of the film, A Series of Unfortunate
Events. I see comic animations of eyes and trees and children and grave yards. Three
children are riding on a bike up hills and over trees and silhouettes of people and grave
yards whilst the title credits spin in and appear. The animation used is very comic like but
the colours used are dark. Mainly black, browns and greys. The outlines of the shapes are
partly sharpened. The shapes are rotated in a smooth transition including an effect that
makes you feel like you’re moving to along with the shapes. The video format used is HD,
1080; 1920 x 1080 or 2,073,600 pixels.

Another credit sequence I decided to analysis was Walk on the Wild Side. The credit
sequence is in black and white, and is doing a panning/tracking shot following a black cat as
it walks through a stone corridor. There is no animation used it is all done without a modern
computer software. The visual effects used are fade in’s and fade outs. The movement is in
slow motion this creates a greater effect that time is moving slowly. The clips rotate in and
out at certain points this creates a greater visual effect. As I said earlier the colouring used in
this clip is black and white also the cat is black so this makes it go better and blend in more.
The standard TV ratio is 4:3; this means that for every 4 units wide it is 3 units high. But if it
was shown a cinema which it was for a short period of time then it would have been
Widescreen (16:9).

The final credit sequence I decided to analysis was Pretty Little Liars. The sequence is in
bright natural colours and features 4 girls stood behind a coffin. It has close up shots of a girl
getting ready it zooms in on her lips, shoe and eyes. It then shows someone closing the girls
eyes symbolizing that she is dead. There is no animation or special effects the visual effects
are very clear, the movement is all done very slowly and with ease. But at the end it gets
quite jerky when you see the coffin. At the end it appears to a girl on her own who then
fades out as the title fades in. The colours seemsharpened. Because this is a TV programme
the screen ratio 4:3. PAL frame (standard UK TV) is 25 fps.
