Theories or concepts: First Impression
Impression is an opinion or a feeling about people, things or events. Therefore
impression are very important for a person. The first impression is the most important in
social psychology. First impression occur when a person first times meet with another
person. Then, both of them will start to impress each other by forming an overall image
and opinion. The accuracy of impression to a person is not stable. It may be accurate or
wrong. It is depend on the observer and the person who was being observed.
In my family, we will have at least one gathering each month. We will have a dinner
together. This is the time to let our family members to increase their relationship between
each others. The gathering dinner late night, my uncle had brought his girlfriend, Jane
came to have a dinner with us. My uncle wanted to introduce his girlfriend to us. Therefore,
all the family members had wore nice yesterday to let uncle’s girlfriend has a good image
for our family. It was a type of manners too. In my observation, Jane is a very beautiful
women. She has an aquiline nose, beautiful big eyes and smoothly long hair. She looks
like a barbie girl come out from the barbie world. Therefore, I strongly believed that my
picky uncle why falling love with she.
Moreover, Jane also gave me a good impression. Her face always will has a
charming smile. She would smiled to everyone when talking with them. She was a
exceptionally friendly and talkative person. I liked to talk with she because she is a very
funny person. She graduated from a famous university and she like to reading so she was
knowledgeable. She was like a dictionary or encyclopaedia for the children. All young
cousins like she and they wanted Jane to tell them fun stories. She also very patient to
fulfil the children’s expectations. In the children’s impression for Jane, they considered
Jane was a beautiful and funny sister who would play with them. Plus, there was also not
exist any communication gap between them due to the distance of age. Therefore, they
would like to play with Jane even though she was elder than them.

3. Furthermore, the elder family members also very satisfied with Jane. They felt that
Jane was a polite girl and she also very matched with my handsome and intelligent uncle.
Jane also showed her positive opinions towards future. This showed that she was a
determination and independent women in the new century. My grandparents would not
agree their son to marry with someone was over-dependence. They hope that their
daughter-in-law could be a person who might be accept by all the family members. From
their observation, they confirmed that Jane had attracted all the members in family no
matter elders or children. Therefore, Jane successfully gave a good image in their mind.
In a nutshell, first impression is an image or feeling that a person give to another
person. First impression has a wide range of characteristics that may become one of the
parts that people judge you. For examples, age, race, culture, gender, language, physical
appearance, posture and others will be the parts that people normally use to judge people.
The first impression is very important because it will influence how other people treated
you and their viewpoints on you.
